IcyStorm: RideBack SUCKS.
lolikit: Typical [OVER 9000]
thenullset: Perfect. …The easiest thing to praise this show for is the stellar animation. …I want to praise the show most for creating a main character that’s likable, human, and believable as well as taking the time in this first episode to establish her character instead of using action sequences to entice us. …Rin appears to be totally apolitical right now, …I wonder how she’s going to become a student protestor.
What I found most interesting is that the character design for the main protagonist is well, not beautiful
Extrange: Damn, I love Japan’s visions on technology [i.e. skirts]
Brack: If you’ve seen the manga, the first thing you notice is that the anime isn’t a straight adaptation. In fact, it’s taking a few liberties with the story. …However, I don’t think [these liberties are] to its detriment.
Suguru: I guess I’m a sucker for unique premises, and you don’t get much more unique than a ballerina tearing a ligament, quitting ballet, and ending up riding a sort-of humanoid mecha motorcycle, presumably to one day fight against an oppressive world dictatorship. …Yeah, the whole rebel group taking over the world thing was a little far-fetched, but you could argue the very design and concept of most mecha are pretty impractical and far-fetched too.
Kaioshin: Slow start eh? …[R]ight now I’d say the theme of the series is going to be what Rin talked about in finding your own personal world in a harsh reality.
NovaJinx: …[A] nice introduction into the RideBack and I’m pleased to see that it took its time explaining things in more detail than the manga, which felt like much more rushed and held back on answering many questions.
Kurogane: Wow, this show kinda rocks.
tj_han: It’s quite the amazing first episode.
Omni: RIDEBACK is really pretty. The story is nothing to sneeze at either. A lot of this first episode was introducing everything and showing off the Fuego Rideback in action, but they put in a good amount of character development into Rin (particularly in relation to her mother) and hint at the tumultuous state the world is in.
lelangir & ghostlightning: Awesome art/animation, hawt protagonist, interesting use of implicit fanservice, brief and superficial glazing of global political situation, will probably be a rite of passage show (see Kaioshin’s remarks), the political backdrop not having all that much substance.
nazarielle: Well, as far as first episodes go, I found this one to be rather enjoyable. It honestly felt a bit slow at the start, but that was probably due to the fact that I wasn’t actually getting anything out of her monologue. I heard something about changing the world, but that was about it.
